Can I become a Referee?

If you're interested in being a Referee for Lassen Youth Soccer and you are 13 Years old or older, then YES you can be a licensed referee!

NEW THIS SEASON! Introducing our in-house Junior Referee Program! Anyone ages 11 or older can train to be a junior referee for the 2024 season. Contact our Interim Referee Coordinator, Keith Crosby, for more information.

We use all licensed referees through the California North Referee Administration to ensure world class training, safety, and education.

How do I become a Referee?

Becoming a referee is very easy.

5 Steps to Ref with LYS

​

  1. Reach out to our Referee Coordinator to show your interest.

  2. Sign up for a certification course (course is usually held in August before the season).

  3. Complete online training modules and attend the in-person training.

  4. Order a Referee Uniform kit (cost will be reimbursed upon completion of program).

  5. Register using LYS's online assigning platform.

Our Referee Coordinator will walk alongside you each step of the way to make sure you are well prepared before your first game.

Do I need to do anything as a returning Referee?

Yes only a couple of things. 

1. Please make sure that your license is still active (or fulfill necessary requirements to ensure it is active).

2. Attend our in-person refresher course before each season.

3. Send your updated availability to our Referee Coordinator.
